Philly's Burger Restaurant

Since the weather's been nicer, I've been wandering around my neighborhood a little more.Today I walked past a totally nondescript place on Snyder Avenue that I would not have thought twice about had they not had a sandwich board on the sidewalk with a veggie burger special.In I went.Totally no-frills, seemingly hurting for business and a strong french fry smell in the stuffy air.... I ordered anyway (to go).Their humble menu has a vegetarian section with a veggie burger, veggie cheesesteak, burrito and grilled vegetable sandwich.I chose the grilled vegetable sandwich (portobellos, eggplant, spinach, red pepper), sans cheese. I think the pesto that comes on it contains dairy, though (note for next time). Perfectly cooked veggies, no drippy, vinegary marinade left behind, chewy Sarcone's roll, heaping helping of crisp, hand-cut fries.The only issue with this place is the location - a rundown block that's never met a vegetable. The sweet couple behind the counter appeared very gracious to have a customer.I just hope it doesn't go the way of the vegetarian Chinese spot that opened on the block behind my house and lasted 3 months (that was a dream, by the way).So help them help you: They're there for 11 am to 11 pm, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.\Philly's Burger Restaurant 1439 Snyder Ave(215) 454-2096
